First Saturday welcomes all girls ages 5-12 or Kindergarten to sixth grade that are not currently in a traditional troop due to lack of volunteers, transportation or financial restraint. During the 2002-2003 school year pilot 239 girls attended First Saturdays. This year over 500 girls have had the First Saturday Experience. The activities offered at First Saturdays vary at each meeting and are selected from Girl Scout Program patches and badges. All program are created around the Girl Scout Program Focus Discover more about who they are. Connect and have fun with others. Take action to make the world a better place. And ultimately become leaders in their community and beyond. Girls participate in values building games as they learn the Promise and Law and gain healthy skills while practicing physical fitness and lifestyle basics. Additional favorites include songs and seasonal crafts. Girls receive a light breakfast and a snack. |
